GoPath Laboratories is a state-of-the-art CAP-accredited, CLIA-certified molecular diagnostic laboratory providing anatomic pathology, hematopathology, and hereditary cancer testing for clinicians, hospital systems, and pharmaceutical firms. Located just north of Chicago, our laboratory incorporates the latest technologies into our testing platforms including next-generation sequencing, cytogenetics, FISH, IHC, microarray analysis, and ddPCR. We specialize in cancer diagnostics through our OncoTarget® NGS testing series, which include solid tumor and liquid biopsy analysis to detect and monitor a cancer’s genetic mutations. We also offer a wide-range of hereditary cancer testing through our GeneticsNow® platform including BRCANow™ for familial breast, ovarian and ProstateNow™ for prostate cancer and LynchNow™ for Lynch syndrome.

Jim Lu, MD, PhD
President & CEO, Medical Director Jim Lu focuses primarily on business development while he is also involved in GI/Liver Pathology cases, and assisting in the R&D molecular developments. Jim is dedicated to GoPath’s clients and their patients, even making himself available for consultations on any case. Jim received his MD degree from Wannan Medical College, in Anhui, China. He then studied at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, earning his PhD in Molecular Medicine. He successfully completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in GI/Liver and Transplant Pathology and has been practicing in his area of expertise for nearly 15 years. |
Shiwen Song, M.D., Ph.D.
Deputy Director of Pathology Services Dr. Song completed his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency, as well as his Surgical/GI Pathology Fellowship at the Department of Pathology, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, with a special interest in gastrointestinal and genitourinary pathology. Dr. Song has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Scientist Prize Award at the International Conference of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine. He has served as Chief Scientific/Chief Medical Officer at the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and is a member of major Pathology organizations. Richard M. Cachia, M.D.
Medical Director of Heartland Regional Medical Center He is American Board Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and he received his medical degree from the Royal University of Malta School of Medicine. Afterward, he completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he received fellowship training in renal pathology and also held a faculty position in the Department of Pathology. He is a member of various professional organizations such as the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the Illinois State Medical Society. |
